Staffing business units with MBA and PhD-level specialists

How to compose Finance, Marketing, People and Digital units from specialist agents without recreating a bloated org.

The temptation when hiring agents is to hire too many. A twenty-node org chart looks impressive and produces coordination overhead identical to a twenty-person team.

Start with the executive layer and one specialist per unit. Add depth only where a queue forms. Financial modelling, lifecycle marketing, technical recruiting and analytics engineering are the four roles most teams reach for first.

Give each specialist a written charter, a tool set and a reporting line. Charters matter more than model choice: an agent with a precise mandate and mediocre tools outperforms a brilliant one with an ambiguous brief.

Review the chart monthly. Roles that never receive work should be retired, and roles that constantly escalate should be split.
